A dear friend of ours recently visited us and spent an evening of food and laugher. The next day I received a thank you note- a unique one at that - a poem!
"Continuity
Three generations signaling life;
Grandfather’s overwhelming joy
beaming forth in smile
and purpose. Here he is,
the grandson I feared might never be,
he on whom we all, his closest kin, dote.
Take note, by all objective standards,
he is a precious child, precocious, clever.
He surely knows which lever
to pull to have adoring servants
at his beck and call.
Most of all
in his small self he holds the key
to eternity
at least in the sense that this family
has continuity."
