Lies, damned lies and pundits....

If you were confused by the political scene in the US presidential elections, let me add some fuel to the fire.

In the space of two days, two so called pundits of the press published articles that are so violently contradictory, that you wonder if they are talking about the same election in the same year.

Here is Michael Tomasky predicting an Obama landslide with various facts and figures and the latest polls.

Not to be outdone, another so called pundit, Dick Morris predicts a Romney landslide using various polls.

I will not bore you with the logic behind either prediction but it says something about the level of lies and prevebrication in todays journalism that both views exist side by side and the objective editors make no attempt to sort out fact from fiction of these claims.

Well, actually New York Times does but through a subterfuge- it employs a blogger, Nate Silver, who cranks out a daily prediction of his own though with some thoughtful data and a willingness to share the models on which these predictions are based. And what does his model say today-- Obama wins 300 electoral votes as compared to 270 needed for a victory!
