IIT was a center piece of a TV story done by CBS on 60 minutes which describes IIT as "Harvard, MIT and Princeton put together".
The story confirms that the heart of their success is an entrance exam system that is uncorrupted over the past fifty years and is purely a meritocratic. It focusses on the sheer hard work that all IITians go through and as Vinod Khosla, an IIT alumni, mentions after IIT, work even at institutions like Carnegi Mellon were a cake walk. (I can confirm this as well as I finished my masters at MIT in the early sixties in nine months without really as much as effort as I put in at IIT, Kharagpur.)
In short, it is worth viewing as the story says that IIT graduates may be India's most valuable exports!
